This Wednesday June 26 from 6:00-8:00pm I’ll be leading a workshop at The Soul Project in Laguna Beach about how to get started writing a novel! The event is free, open to the public, and great for readers and writers alike. Since Waiting at Hayden’s is the first shopfiction novel, I’m excited to be holding the class at one of my favorite local clothing boutiques. (Address is: 1516 South Coast Highway Laguna Beach, CA 92651)
In addition to explaining my writing process and answering questions about how to begin telling a story and what goes into each step of bringing a book to life, I’ll be reading from Waiting at Hayden’s and sharing sample pages from the earliest draft, so you can see the full evolution of a book—from when an author first dreams it up to when it hits shelves.

The workshop is hosted by Carli & Co, a mother-daughter founded company that sells colorful journals perfect for jotting down all your inspired ideas as well as bags perfect for toting all your beach reads to the sand. The founders are passionate about encouraging others to live a life they love and the duo truly lives by the principles they preach (Heather moved her family to France for two years, taking a break from her job in banking and eventually moved to Orange County where she founded Carli & Co alongside her daughter). They are hosting a series of events this summer dedicated to inspired living and I’m so excited to be included in this pop-up series at The Soul Project!
If you like meeting with other readers and writers, feel free to check out more information here or email me with any questions.
Meeting with readers and other writers is one of my favorite things to do and forming a community when you’re working on a book or considering it can be so helpful. I would love to see you there!
