Are you a reader? A writer? Or a shopper? If so, I’d love for you to join me on October 24 at Eberjey in Lido Village in Newport Beach!
I’ll be speaking about writing the first novel where readers can shop the characters’ clothes and demonstrating this new reading experience: shopfiction™. I’ll also be talking a bit about my writing process, answering questions, and reading a scene from my next book, Map of Us, coming summer 2020!
As most of you who have been following along with me for a while know, I was really passionate about featuring brands in Waiting at Hayden’s founded by other female entrepreneurs that I found inspiring. I loved the idea of introducing my readers to stores and companies that I loved and that fit the personalities of my characters.
Styling them in the outfits and capturing pictures of them in the settings just like I’d described in the book was a process unlike anything I’d experienced before. It was my imagination fully come to life! Below you can see one of the photos from the scene in the story where I styled Gianna in an Eberjey robe and two-piece PJ set. There are hundreds of other photos throughout the book that you can click on (in the ebook) anytime a characters’ outfit is mentioned and web addresses you can type into your phone at the end of chapters in the print book for the same experience.
For those who haven’t discovered this brand yet, their collection of pjs, intimates, and lougewear is as comfortable as it is flattering and one of their beautiful storefronts is in Newport Beach.
I’d love to see you there. The event is co-hosted by Clever Woman Club, another female-founded company that is reinventing the book club and bringing women together in celebration of Newport Beach female authors.
It will run from 6:30-8:30pm and is free and open to everyone. Those in attendance will be receiving 15% off of everything in the store that evening—perfect for some early holiday shopping! I’ll also be doing a giveaway for a signed copy of Waiting at Hayden’s!
Looking forward to a fun evening celebrating storytelling!
I would not miss it!! Can’t wait!! You are an amazing, innovative and extremely creative female entrepreneur! I am looking forward to your upcoming talk in Newport Beach and hearing you share an excerpt from your new book in progress! You are truly an inspiration to me as I stretch toward including more and more creativity and innovation in my own private counseling practice right here in Newport Beach! Kudos to you, Riley!!
