The complete storyline for the book I’ve been working on throughout the past year is below! I spoke a bit about it last week, in this blog post here. In case you missed it, it’s tentatively called The Influencer and is about an unexpected connection that develops between a fashion blogger struggling with finding her true self and a man with a secret who volunteers to take her pictures during a sponsored trip that goes terribly wrong.
Each chapter opens with a photo from the woman’s Instagram–that tells one side of the story–and what actually goes on that weekend behind the lens is revealed in the novel itself.
Writing this book has been eye-opening, raw, real, funny, heart-wrenching and completely lovely all at once. I can’t wait to share it with you and will keep you posted on its release as well as continue to provide sneak peeks in the coming weeks. Check it out below and let me know what you think!
To the outside world, Brooke Berman is living the dream. With over 1.2 million followers on social media and a successful blog, her Instagram feed is filled with charming locations, exquisite clothes, and a supportive boyfriend who captures it all in the perfect light. But as her followers grow so do Brooke’s questions about the life she has been living that looks perfect from every angle but her own.
Hunter Sullivan’s life feels far from perfect. Since a group of influencers posted terrible reviews about his family business months ago, he has watched business dry up to the point of closing unless he can figure out a way to save it. He’s hoping the free room his friend offered him for Labor Day weekend at a new boutique hotel on the marsh in Charleston, South Carolina will give him the time to sort things out.
Their two lives collide when Brooke’s photographer boyfriend becomes ill on a sponsored trip at the same hotel where Hunter is staying, leaving her without someone to capture the shots she needs to promote the Calhoun House as promised and keep her followers engaged. Hunter sees an opportunity to reverse his fortune by stepping in behind the lens himself and working his way into Brooke’s good graces. What starts as an act though, turns to something real as the two open up to each other and fall hard and fast. As Hunter helps Brooke discover her own truths, he’s confronted with the fear that when she discovers his, she may never forgive him and that the price for saving the family business may be a broken heart.
